What is demodecosis:

• The human Demodex mite (Demodex folliculorum) is a parasite of mites. It resides in the sebaceous glands of human skin and hair follicles, causing a dermatological disease called demodecosis, which manifests itself in the form of purple pustules. The parasite feeds on sebum and blood plasma filtrate, as well as the secretion of the sebaceous glands and epithelial cells. Demodex causes inflammation of the sebaceous gland or hair follicle, preventing the secretion of sebum
• Symptoms include: local fever, inflammation, pain and abscess formation. You may feel a slight itching of the skin in places where demodex mites live, especially when they actively penetrate the follicle or sebaceous gland.
