• The vaginal ecosystem has a population composed mainly of lactic acid-producing bacteria (lactobacilli), which contribute to maintaining its correct balance by maintaining a physiological pH between 3.8 and 4.5.
• The vaginal microbiota inhibits the growth of pathogens through different mechanisms such as the production of organic acids, especially lactic acid, bacteriocins and hydrogen peroxide.
• Lactobacilli are essential in maintaining a healthy vaginal flora and the normal functioning of the urogenital system. In certain circumstances, the lactobacilli disappear producing unpleasant manifestations such as: vaginal discharge, pruritus (itching), pain and burning. The reservoir function of the intestinal tract for vaginal lactobacilli and oral supplementation with lactobacilli help to maintain a normal vaginal flora and prevent functional disorders in it.
• At the same time, it is known that the vaginal flora is kept healthy by ensuring a physiological composition of lactobacilli. Therefore, a balanced composition of vaginal lactobacilli similar to the physiological one, administered orally as a dietary supplement, was designed to support the restoration of the vaginal flora.

What is Astarte and what is it used for:

• ASTARTE is a certified dietary supplement (Patent no.EP2509610) available in the form of vegetable capsules containing four strains of lactobacilli [Lactobacillus crispatus LBV88 (DSM 22566), Lactobacillus rhamnosus LBV96 (DSM 22560), Lactobacillus jensenii LBV116 (DSM 22567), Lactobacillus gasseri LBV150 (DSM 22583)].

Ingredients:

Lactic acid-producing bacteria (Lactobacillus crispatus, L. rhamnosus, L. gasseri, L. jensenii), fructo-oligosaccharides, capsule: hydroxypropylmethylcellulose, titanium dioxide, bulking agent: corn starch, anti-caking agents: vegetable magnesium stearate, silicon dioxide.

One capsule contains a minimum of 2.5 billion colony-forming units (cfu) of live cells of lactic acid-producing bacteria. This value is guaranteed until the expiration date for the unopened product.
