Composita ^® Mama DHA is a food supplement designed to supplement the daily diet of women from the first days of pregnancy. The preparation in the form of pink and transparent capsules for simultaneous use combines vitamins and minerals with choline and fish oil, which is a source of omega-3 fatty acids: docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA).

Two chemical forms of folic acid were used to produce Composita ^® Mama DHA: pteroylmonoglutamic acid and calcium L-methylfolate, i.e. methylated folic acid considered to be the active form of folic acid.

Folic acid supplementation increases the folate concentration in the mother's body. Low levels of maternal folic acid are a risk factor for the development of neural tube defects in the developing fetus. The beneficial effect occurs with an additional daily intake of 400 μg of folic acid at least one month before and at most three months after conception.

Folate also supports proper growth of maternal tissues during pregnancy. They also help in the correct synthesis of amino acids and play a role in the proper production of blood . At the same time, folates, together with vitamin D, support the maintenance of the good functioning of the immune system , and in combination with vitamins B6 and B12, contribute to reducing the feeling of tiredness and fatigue . Iodine is a mineral that supports the maintenance of proper energy metabolism. In addition, it also helps the proper production of thyroid hormones and the proper functioning of the thyroid gland . Iron helps in the proper production of red blood cells and hemoglobin and in the proper transport of oxygen in the body. Choline contributes to maintaining the proper functioning of the liver , while helping to maintain proper fat metabolism.
