Monogen is a food for special medical use with a high content of medium chain triglycerides (MCT).

Monogen is a complete nutritional powder, without aroma, low in fat, with low content in long-chain triglycerides (LCT), high content in medium-chain triglycerides (MCT), with linolenic acid (LA) and α-linolenic acid (ALA) ), supplemented with docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and arachidonic acid (AA). Monogen can be used as the only source of nutrition for infants and as a dietary supplement for children and adults.

Indications:

Monogen is used with recommendation and under medical supervision in:

• Chylothorax
• Hyperlipoproteinemia type 1
• Intestinal lymphangiectasia
• Intractable malabsorption with steatorrhea
• Disorders in the metabolism of long-chain fatty acids (LCP)
• Other lymphatic or lipid disorders that require a diet rich in MCTs
• Post-operative administration in short bowel syndrome

Contraindications:

• It is not administered parenterally.
• Instructions for use:
• Infant formulas in powder form are not sterile and must be prepared only before administration.
• Shake the formula before use.
• The formula should not be heated for more than 15 minutes before feeding the infant.
• Do not boil the formula and do not use the microwave oven to prepare or heat the formula.
• The necessary amount and dilution must be determined only by the doctor and depends on the age, body weight and clinical condition of each individual patient.
• The recommended concentration is 16.8%. To obtain 100 ml of the formula, add 3 measures (5.6 g) of Monogen to 90 ml of boiled and cooled water.
• Your child's health depends on carefully following the instructions for preparing and administering the formula.
• Incorrect preparation can affect the health of the child.

Method of preparation:

1. Wash your hands and clean the area where the formula is prepared. Sterilize bottles and teats.
2. Boil fresh water for 5 minutes and let it cool for at least 30 minutes so that you feel it warm when you drip it on your wrist. Pour the required amount of water into a sterile baby bottle.
3. Fill the measure in the box with the Monogen powder and remove the excess with the blade of a clean knife. Do not press the powder into the measure. Use only the measure from the box.
4. Add the prescribed measures of Monogen to the water in the bottle. Put the cap on the bottle and shake until the powder dissolves. Before feeding, make sure the formula is at the right temperature by putting a few drops on the wrist.
5. The formula left in the bottle for more than an hour is thrown away. The formula should not be reheated while feeding the infant.
6. Prolonged contact with the teat can cause tooth decay and hence subsequent problems. It is recommended to clean the oral cavity before going to bed.

Storage:

• Store in a cool, dry place (5-20°C), away from sunlight.
• Once the box is opened, use the powder within a maximum of one month.
• Always put the lid on the box after use.
• Validity period: 15 months from the date of manufacture.
