Description
Vitamin B1 250 mg, 100 tablets, VitaKing
Properties:
Vitamin B1 is also known as the "vitamin of intellectual performance", because it ensures the increase of intellectual performance.
Vitamin B1 is especially important in the metabolism of proteins and carbohydrates, then in the normal functioning of the central nervous system and, especially, of the peripheral nervous system, the digestive system and endocrine glands, in the growth process, in the intestinal absorption of fats, etc.
Thiamine (as vitamin B1 is also called) favors the deposition of glycogen in the liver and accelerates the process of urine elimination, being indispensable in the transformation of carbohydrates into lipids and thereby providing additional sources of energy. It also keeps the entire nervous system healthy, improves muscle tone, contributes to the body's defense against infections.
Thiamine is recommended in the treatment of many conditions, such as: anorexia, growth delays, slow digestion, pregnancy and lactation disorders, colitis, stress, irritability, anemia, nausea, general fatigue and convalescence, atherosclerosis, heart rhythm disorders, burns, neuritis and polyneuritis ('antineuritis vitamin'), beriberi ('anti-beri-beri vitamin'), various pains, cerebral haemorrhages, thrombosis, infectious diseases of the nervous system, heart failure, myocarditis ('heart vitamin'), insufficient liver diseases, hepatitis and cirrhosis, gout, rheumatic algae, dermatoses, etc.
It should be borne in mind that thiamine is synergistic with the other vitamins in the B complex (as they are with each other) and that, unfortunately, it is not stored in the body, therefore having to be replaced daily.
In healthy adults, the daily requirement of vitamin B1 is 150 - 200 mg, depending on the intensity of the activity performed, the nature and qualities of the nutritional factors that make up the food ration, physiological conditions and age. In women, during pregnancy, 250 - 300 mg of thiamine per day are needed.
Children under one year of age need 1 mg of thiamine per day, this need then increases as they get older, gradually approaching that of adults. In some pathological conditions of the nervous system (neuritis and polyneuritis, disorders of carbohydrate, protein and water metabolism, etc.), it is necessary to supplement, accordingly, the intake of thiamine.
Food rich in carbohydrates and alcohol increase the requirements in vitamin B1, and food rich in protein and fat causes it to decrease.
It helps the body to counteract the toxic effects of alcohol.
