The main sources of energy in the human diet are carbohydrates (glucose), proteins and fats. Ketone bodies are formed in the liver during the burning of fat compounds, and the allowed rate of ketones in the body is low. The process of producing substances is controlled by hormones (glucagon, growth hormone) and insulin. When the body is working properly, fats are digested and a small part is converted into ketone compounds. The situation changes when insulin levels are low. The body has nothing to produce energy from and then uses spare fat, which can lead to an increased level of ketone bodies in the blood and then in the urine. Testing for the presence of ketone bodies is an important diagnostic tool in patients with type 1 diabetes. The presence of ketone bodies may indicate impending or developing ketoacidosis, which requires immediate medical intervention.

The MultiSure device is characterized by fast and easy-to-use operation, including a large, backlit display and a safe automatic tape ejection function. The glucometer is powered by two batteries, the power of which is sufficient to perform over 2,000 measurements .
