Vibrocil nasal drops, 15 ml, Gsk

Vibrocil nasal drops contain as active substances a nasal decongestant (phenylephrine) and an antihistamine (dimetinden maleate).

Vibrocil nasal drops provide rapid and lasting relief of nasal congestion and runny nose, symptoms present in a wide variety of infectious or allergic diseases of the upper respiratory tract.

Indications:

• Colds, acute and chronic rhinitis, seasonal (hay fever) and non-seasonal allergic rhinitis, acute and chronic sinusitis, pre- and post-operative care
• Adjuvant in acute otitis media
• Vibrocil nasal drops can also be used as adjunctive treatment in case of otitis
• Vibrocil nasal drops can be prescribed by your doctor for pre- and post-operative care in the case of nasal surgery.

Composition:

Nasal drops, nasal spray: Active principles: Dimetinden maleate 0.25 mg, phenylephrine 2.5 mg; flavorings; preservatives: benzalkonium chloride; excipients ad solution for 1 ml. Nasal gel: Active principles: Dimetinden maleate 0.25 mg, phenylephrine 2.5 mg; flavorings; preservatives: benzalkonium chloride; excipients ad gel for 1 g.

Administration method:

Drops: after blowing the nose, apply 3-4 times a day in each nostril:

• Children under 1 year of age: not recommended
• Children between 1-6 years: 1-2 drops
• Children over 6 years and adults: 3-4 drops
• Administration in a sitting position is preferred, and after the head leans back to favor penetration.

Contraindications:

• Hypersensitivity to one of the constituents
• Like other vasoconstrictors, phenylephrine is contraindicated in atrophic rhinitis with or without ozena, in patients under MAOI treatment or who discontinued this therapy less than 2 weeks ago.

Precautions:

Talk to your doctor before using Vibrocil nasal drops if you have any of the following medical problems:

• Heart diseases
• High blood pressure
• Overactive thyroid
• Diabetes
• Enlarged prostate, as treatment could lead to urinary retention
• Epilepsy.

Special warnings:

Pregnancy, breastfeeding, fertility

• If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.

Driving and using machinery

• There are no available data on the effect of Vibrocil nasal drops on the ability to drive vehicles and use machines. However, it is unlikely that Vibrocil nasal drops will have any effect on this ability.

Side effects:

In rare cases, a transient drying reaction of the nasal mucosa was observed.

Action:

• Vibrocil cleans the nose by respecting the physiology of vibrating cilia and the nasal mucosa
• Through its selective action on the alpha 1-adrenergic receptors of the cavernous venous system of the nasal mucosa, phenylephrine exerts a mild vasoconstrictor effect that allows rapid and lasting decongestion
• Dimetindene maleate, an anti-H1 antihistamine, is an effective antiallergic substance in low doses and well tolerated.
