Description
How does the CRP test work?
The CRP test is a test used to semi-quantitatively determine the concentration of C-reactive protein in a blood sample. If C-reactive protein is present in the blood sample being tested, it will react with the anti-CRP antibodies present as distinct lines on the test plate. Depending on the CRP concentration level, the appropriate test lines will appear.
When should a CRP test be performed?
The test should be performed when clinical symptoms suggestive of infection, such as low-grade fever, headache, fever, or general weakness, appear. Before going to the doctor, it is worth checking whether the infection is bacterial - requires antibiotics or viral - requires symptomatic treatment with over-the-counter drugs. The CRP test can be performed at any time of the day.
What does the line next to the letter C on the test board mean?
This is the control line. The appearance of a colored line under the letter C indicates that the test is working correctly and that the test was performed correctly.
Does the color intensity of the lines in the results window affect the interpretation of the test?
The color intensity of the lines that appear on the CRP test is not important for the interpretation of the test result. We perform the interpretation according to the instructions contained in this manual in the INTERPRETATION OF RESULTS section.
Will the test result still be reliable after more than 7 minutes?
NOT. The test result should be read 5 minutes after adding the solution, and the reliable result takes up to 7 minutes.
What to do if you get a positive test result
A positive test result means that the blood tested contains C-reactive protein in a concentration greater than 10 mg/l. It is recommended to consult a doctor, who will allow additional diagnosis, effective treatment and prevention of infection. Careful! The result indicating a bacterial infection should be urgently consulted with a doctor, especially in the case of children, because ignoring the bacterial infection can lead to serious infections and even sepsis.
What to do if you get a negative test result
A negative test result means that no C-reactive protein was detected in the blood tested or that its concentration is less than 10 mg/l. This does not indicate the development of a bacterial or viral infection. However, if you notice any disturbing symptoms, it is recommended to consult a doctor.
Could the test result be incorrect?
If the user follows all instructions contained in this manual, the test result will be correct. An incorrect result may be due to using the test after the expiration date or because it has become wet, or an inadequate sample volume may be used. The capillary device included in the package allows accurate collection of the blood volume required for the test
