Phytosterols Solgar ® Complex is a food supplement with added plant sterols enclosed in capsules with a gelatin shell and an oil filling of safflower oil. The formula was developed to supplement the diet of adults who want to control the appropriate level of cholesterol in the blood.
Plant sterols – origin and properties
Plant sterols, also called phytosterols, are substances of natural origin belonging to the same group of chemical compounds as cholesterol. They are part of plant cell membranes. Phytosterols cannot be synthesized endogenously by the human body, and their main source in a properly balanced diet can be vegetable oil, including those obtained from rapeseed, sunflower, sesame, corn or soybean .
A great way to supplement your daily diet with plant-based sterols are Solgar® Phytosterol Complex capsules. The recommended daily dose of the preparation, i.e. 4 capsules, provides 2 g of vegetable sterols obtained from soy. Phytosterol complex that includes sterol esters, including beta-sitosterol, stigmasterol, campesterol, brassicasterol. Plant sterols help maintain normal blood cholesterol levels . The beneficial effect occurs when at least 0.8 g of plant sterols are consumed per day.
The recommended daily dose of the American brand Solgar ® is 4 capsules with the addition of plant sterols. The pack contains 100 capsules and will provide 25 days of supplementation to maintain proper cholesterol levels.
