SeptaNazal Nasal spray for children 0.5mg/50mg/ml, 10 ml, KRKA

Indications:

• Septanazal nasal spray contains xylometazoline hydrochloride and dexpanthenol.
• Xylometazoline hydrochloride quickly contracts the blood vessels in the nasal mucosa and reduces its congestion, as well as mucus secretion. In this way, the sensation of nasal blockage disappears.

Dexpanthenol is a derivative of pantothenic acid, a vitamin that allows wound healing and protects the nasal mucosa.

- to decongest the mucosa from nasal inflammations (rhinitis) and to heal mucosal injuries,
- to improve the non-allergic inflammation of the nasal mucosa (from vasomotor rhinitis),
- for the treatment of nasal breathing affected after nasal surgery.

It can be used in adults and children and adolescents over 6 years of age.

Composition:
- the active substances are: xylometazoline hydrochloride and dexpanthenol.

Each ml of nasal spray contains xylometazoline hydrochloride solution 0.50g, dexpanthenol 50mg.

A puff of 0.1 ml nasal spray contains xylometazoline hydrochloride 0.05 mg and dexpanthenol 5 mg.

Administration method:

• Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
• The recommended dose for adults is one puff in each nostril, 3 times a day.
• Doses depend on individual sensitivity and clinical outcome.
• Do not use this medicine for more than 7 days.
• You can resume the treatment after a break of a few days.

Contraindications:
Do not take Septanazal for children:

- if your child is allergic to xylometazoline hydrochloride, dexpanthenol or any of the other components of this medicine;
- if your child has a dry, crusty inflammation of the nasal mucosa (rhinitis sicca),
- if your child has had the pituitary gland surgically removed or has had other surgeries that exposed the meninges (the membrane that covers the brain).

This medicine should not be given to children under 2 years of age.

Precautions:
Before using Septanazal for children, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

Pregnancy, breast-feeding and fertility:

• If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
• This medicine should not be used during pregnancy because there are no data on safety in pregnant women.
• This medicine should not be used during breastfeeding, as it is not known whether xylometazoline hydrochloride passes into breast milk.

Driving vehicles and using machines:
If used as directed, this medicine is not expected to affect your ability to drive or use machines.
