It is indicated in disorders of the exocrine function of the pancreas produced by chronic pancreatitis, cystic fibrosis, nutritional disorders, flatulence and the Roemheldscher symptom complex.

Recommended in simultaneous resections of the stomach and small intestine, accelerated intestinal transit (nervousness, infectious intestinal diseases), disturbances in the hepato-biliary system, dyspepsia; the simultaneous administration of vegetable, fatty or hard-to-digest food.

Mezym forte is also indicated for the elimination of gas from the intestine before diagnostic examinations (roentgen therapy).

Composition:

One gastro-resistant film-coated tablet contains pancreatin (pig pancreas powder) 125 mg with a minimum activity: lipolytic 10000 U, amylolytic 7500 U and proteolytic 375 U and excipients: core - lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, colloidal anhydrous silicon dioxide, crospovidone, magnesium stearate; gastro-resistant film - hypromellose, methacrylic acid copolymer: ethyl acrylate, triethyl citrate, titanium dioxide (E171), talc, simethicone emulsion, macrogol 6000, sodium carmellose, polysorbate 80, azorubin lac (E 122).

How to use:

• The dosage of Mezym forte 10000 is determined according to the severity of pancreatic insufficiency
• The appropriate dose must be determined individually
• In general, the recommended dose is 1-2 Mezym forte 10000 film-coated tablets 3 times a day, administered during meals
• Depending on the nature of the food ingested, as well as the known or estimated degree of severity of digestive disorders, the required dose may be higher
• Especially in patients suffering from cystic fibrosis, the dose should not exceed the amount of enzymes required for lipid digestion, depending on the amount and type of food ingested
• Increasing the dose is done only under the supervision of the doctor and depends on the symptomatology (eg: steatorrhea and abdominal pain)
• A daily enzyme dose of 15,000-20,000 lipase units per kg should not be exceeded
• The dose for children should only be determined by a doctor
• Film-coated tablets should be swallowed whole with sufficient liquid
• In adults, the doctor will decide whether long-term administration of the drug is necessary
• In children, the duration of treatment must be determined by the doctor.

Contraindications:

• Hypersensitivity to pancreatic enzymes of porcine origin or to any of the drug's excipients
• Acute pancreatitis and exacerbations of chronic pancreatitis in the most advanced stage of the disease.

Precautions:

• Occasional administration of Mezym 10000 strengths is beneficial during the recovery phase of pancreatitis, during the resumption of eating, if there is still evidence of pancreatic insufficiency or if it persists
• During treatment, intestinal obstruction may occur in patients with cystic fibrosis. Therefore, when ileus-type symptoms appear, the possibility of an intestinal stricture must be considered. If digestive symptoms persist or worsen under treatment, clinical and therapeutic evaluation of the patient by a physician is required
• Due to the content of azorubin lac (E122), the drug can cause allergic reactions
• Because it contains lactose, patients with rare hereditary problems of galactose intolerance, the lactase deficiency (Lapp) or glucose-galactose malabsorption should not use this medicine.

Pregnancy, breast-feeding and fertility:

• Mezym forte 10000 can be administered during pregnancy and breastfeeding
• During pregnancy and breastfeeding, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using any medicine.

Driving vehicles and using machines:

• Mezym forte 10000 has no effects on the ability to drive and use machines.
