Description
Lakcid Entero 250 mg is an oral antidiarrheal medicine in the form of capsules, whose active substance is the freeze-dried yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae var. boulardii classified as probiotics. These yeasts are a component of the natural intestinal flora, the disruption of which can cause a series of digestive problems leading, among others, to diarrhea.
Lakcid Entero 250 mg - action
Lakcid Entero restores and helps maintain the proper composition of the bacterial flora of the digestive tract, which is a natural barrier to the development of unfavorable microflora. However, the balance of bacterial flora is delicate and can be disturbed by many factors, such as:
- droplet-borne viruses,
- viruses in food, in contaminated water, on dirty hands (eg rotaviruses, noroviruses),
- protozoa such as Giardia lamblia or intestinal parasites,
- bacteria present in food or water (e.g. Salmonella bacteria),
- products of bacterial metabolism, so-called enterotoxins, such as staphylococcal toxin present in dairy products contaminated with this bacteria, for example ice cream.
Consuming food or liquids containing bacteria or their metabolic products can lead to bacterial food poisoning. Maintaining the balance of intestinal microflora is necessary to ensure important functions of the digestive tract, such as digestion, resistance to infections and strengthening of natural immunity.
