Improvement of gastrointestinal symptoms, induced by excessive gas accumulation in the intestine, for example, flatulence; preparation of abdominal examinations for diagnostic purposes, such as radiography, ultrasound.

The symptomatology determined by the accumulation of gas in the gastrointestinal tract can be a sign of functional disorders at this level, manifesting as pressure or bloating, fullness, belching, intestinal peristaltic movements and flatulence.

Composition:

Espumisan contains simethicone, 40 mg and excipients: gelatin, glycerol (85%), methyl p-hydroxybenzoate, quinoline yellow (E 104), orange yellow S (E 110).

How to use:

• Gastrointestinal disorders caused by the accumulation of gas in the intestine
• Adults and adolescents: the usual recommended dose is 80 mg simethicone (2 Espumisan soft gelatin capsules), administered orally, 3-4 times a day
• Children aged between 6-14 years: the usual recommended dose is 80 mg simethicone (2 Espumisan soft gelatin capsules), administered orally, 3-4 times a day
• It is recommended to take Espumisan during the meal, after the meal or before going to bed
• The duration of administration depends on the evolution of symptoms
• If after 7 days of treatment, the gastrointestinal disorders persist or other disorders appear, the patient should contact the doctor
• If necessary, Espumisan can be administered for a long time
• Preparation for diagnostic examinations of the abdomen: the usual dose is 240 mg of simethicone, 3 times a day, the day before the examination and 80 mg of simethicone in the morning of the day of the examination.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to simethicone, methyl parahydroxybenzoate (allergy to the para group), yellow orange S (E 110) or any of the excipients of the drug.

Precautions:

• As it contains methyl parahydrobenzoate it can cause allergic reactions (even delayed)
• Because it contains orange yellow S (E 110) it can cause allergic reactions.

Pregnancy, breast-feeding and fertility:

• If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine
• No negative effects are anticipated if Espumisan is taken during pregnancy and breastfeeding because the active substance simethicone is not absorbed from the stomach and intestines into the blood. However, there are no clinical data for the use of Espumisan in pregnant women

Driving vehicles and using machines:

• No special precautions are necessary.
