The active substance of Erdosol Respiro is erdosteine - a thiolactone derivative of mercaptoamino acids. The mucolytic effect is exerted mainly by its metabolites, which cause the breakdown of disulfide bridges within and between mucoprotein molecules present in mucous secretions. This reduces the elasticity and viscosity of the mucus, which also improves its ciliary transport.
