Description
Contix ZRD is a drug in the form of gastro-resistant tablets containing the active substance pantoprazole. It is intended for the short-term treatment of symptoms of acid reflux disease in adults, including a painful burning sensation in the chest that spreads to the throat (heartburn) and a sour taste in the mouth (acid belching). The medicine works by blocking the enzyme responsible for producing stomach acid, which leads to a reduction in the amount of acid in the stomach. Contix ZRD helps to relieve the symptoms associated with gastroesophageal reflux disease after the first day of use, but is not a medicine intended to immediately relieve the symptoms of reflux, which involves the flow of stomach acid into the esophagus, which can lead to inflammation and pain in the esophagus . Relief of reflux symptoms is usually seen after 2-3 days of taking the medicine.
In addition to taking the medicine, it is recommended to make changes in diet and lifestyle to relieve heartburn and symptoms related to hydrochloric acid in the stomach:
- avoiding large meals and eating in a hurry,
- reducing or eliminating cigarette smoking,
- reducing alcohol and caffeine consumption,
- if you are overweight, try to lose weight,
- eat at least 3 hours before going to bed and sleep with your head up,
- limiting the consumption of foods that usually cause heartburn, such as: chocolate, peppermint, mint, fatty and fried foods, sour and spicy foods, citrus fruits and fruit juices, tomatoes.
