Coldrex Maxgrip Lemon, 10 sachets, Perrigo

Coldrex Maxgrip Lemon is a remedy used for the short-term symptomatic relief of influenza, febrile conditions, chills and common colds, including headache, sore throat, discomfort and pain, nasal congestion, sinusitis, and acute nasal pain and runny nose associated with this one.

Indications:

Coldrex Maxgrip Lemon is a cold and flu medicine that contains three active substances:

• paracetamol which relieves pain and reduces temperature when you have a fever
• phenylephrine hydrochloride is a decongestant that unclogs the nose and sinuses and helps you breathe easier
• vitamin C (ascorbic acid) replaces vitamin C that is lost in the early stages of colds and flu.

Contraindications:

Do not use Coldrex Maxgrip Lemon if:

• you are allergic (hypersensitive) to paracetamol, phenylephrine hydrochloride, vitamin C or any of the other components of Coldrex Maxgrip Lemon (see point 6)
• if you have liver or kidney failure
• if you have high blood pressure
• if you have hyperthyroidism
• if you suffer from heart disease
• if you have diabetes
• if you are taking other medicines (e.g. antidepressants such as monoamine oxidase inhibitors–MAOIs, beta-blockers)
• if you have an intolerance to some categories of carbohydrates (contains sugar).

Do not administer to children under 12 years of age.

Take special care when taking Coldrex Maxgrip Lemon:

• It is not recommended to combine with other medicines used for colds or as decongestants, as well as with other products containing paracetamol
• Caution is required in the elderly and in hypertensive patients as phenylephrine may increase blood pressure
• The risk of paracetamol hepatotoxicity is greater in case of pre-existing liver damage or when other drugs with hepatotoxic potential are associated
• If cold symptoms persist contact your doctor
• Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice if you are not sure if you can take this medicine.

Use of other drugs:

Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription.

Do not take Coldrex Maxgrip Lemon:

• together with other medicines containing paracetamol
• with other decongestant medicines or cold remedies
• if you are being treated with antidepressants such as monoamine oxidase inhibitors or beta-blockers used to treat heart problems and high blood pressure
• if you are taking warfarin (used to prevent blood clotting)
• if you are taking metoclopramide and domperidone (stimulate the motility of the stomach and small intestine and have anti-emetic effects)
• if you are taking cholestyramine (bile acid sequestrant resin).

Pregnancy and breast-feeding:

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any medicine, including Coldrex Maxgrip Lemon.

Driving and using machines:

• The active substances contained in Coldrex Maxgrip Lemon do not have sedative properties
• The medicine does not influence the ability to drive a car or operate machinery.

Important information regarding some components of Coldrex Maxgrip Lemon:

Coldrex Maxgrip Lemon contains sugar. If your doctor has warned you that you have an intolerance to some categories of carbohydrates, please ask him before taking this medicine.

Composition:

• The active substances in Coldrex Maxgrip Lemon are paracetamol 1000 mg, ascorbic acid 40 mg and phenylephrine hydrochloride 10 mg
• The other ingredients are: sugar, anhydrous citric acid, sodium citrate, corn starch, lemon flavor 610399 E, sodium cyclamate, sodium saccharin, colloidal anhydrous silicon dioxide and curcumin (E 100).

How to use:

• The usual dose for adults (including the elderly) and children over 12 years of age is one sachet every 4 or 6 hours as needed
• Do not take more than 4 sachets in 24 hours
• The medicine should not be used for more than 3 days without the doctor's recommendation
• Do not give Coldrex Maxgrip Lemon to children under 12 years of age
• Coldrex Maxgrip Lemon is swallowed like a warm drink
• Empty the contents of one sachet into a cup, add hot water and chew well
• Add cold water if necessary
• Add water or honey as desired.

If you take more Coldrex Maxgrip Lemon than you should:

• Seek medical advice immediately and explain exactly how much you have taken. Your doctor will advise you on what to do
• It is important to tell your doctor, even if you feel well
• If a person has taken too much paracetamol, there is a serious risk of liver damage due to the delay in starting treatment.

If you forget to take Coldrex Maxgrip Lemon:

• Take a dose when you remember
• Do not take more than one dose every 4 hours
• Do not take two doses at once for a missed dose.

Side effects:

Like all medicines, Coldrex Maxgrip Lemon can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Side effects are rare and may include:

• skin rashes and other allergies
• increase in blood pressure
• DISORDERS
• feeling dizzy
• insomnia
• palpitations
• vomiting
• diarrhea.

If any of the side effects become serious, or if you notice any side effects not mentioned in this leaflet, please tell your doctor or pharmacist.
