Chlorella pyrenoides is a single-celled spherical green algae of very small size (2 – 10 micrometers in diameter). It is very rich in chlorophyll, specialists have determined that no other plant contains so much photosynthetic pigment. Its name is derived from these characteristics: from chloros, which in Greek means green, to which was added the suffix ella from Latin, used to form diminutives.
