Alka-Seltzer is used as:

• Analgesic and antipyretic for: combating pain of weak or moderate intensity, in headache, myalgia, articular and periarticular rheumatic pain, neuralgia, dental pain, dysmenorrhea, combating fever;
• Anti-inflammatory for: combating inflammatory phenomena in acute polyarticular rheumatism, mitigating joint inflammation in rheumatoid polyarthritis.

Administration method:

In adults, for the analgesic and antipyretic effect, administer 1-2 effervescent tablets (on average 500 mg of acetylsalicylic acid) repeating according to needs at 4-hour intervals, without exceeding the maximum daily dose of 9 effervescent tablets. For the anti-inflammatory effect, administer 9-12 effervescent tablets (on average 3 - 4 g of acetylsalicylic acid) per day, in fractional administration, at 6-hour intervals, without exceeding the maximum daily dose of 12 effervescent tablets.

For children over 10 years of age, the recommended daily dose of acetylsalicylic acid is 30 - 50 mg/kg divided into 4-6 doses.

Method of administration: The effervescent tablets are dissolved in a glass of water before administration. It should not be administered for more than 3-5 days without consulting the doctor.

This medicine is administered according to the leaflet and according to the recommendations of the doctor and the pharmacist.

Active ingredients: Each effervescent tablet contains 324 mg of acetylsalicylic acid.

Precautions: Do not use Alka-Seltzer if:

• you are allergic to acetylsalicylic acid or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or any of the components of this medicine;
• if you have an active gastric or duodenal ulcer;
• if you have an increased bleeding tendency (hemorrhagic diathesis);
• if you have a history of bronchial asthma induced by the administration of salicylates or substances with similar action, especially non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs;
• if you have severe liver failure;
• if you have severe kidney failure; if you have uncompensated heart failure;
• if you have phenylketonuria.

Consult your doctor before use: if you use other medicines containing acetylsalicylic acid, if you regularly use painkillers, if you have a history of ulcers or bleeding in the stomach or intestines, or inflammation of the stomach lining (gastritis), if you have liver or kidney diseases , at the level of the heart or blood circulation, if you have bronchial asthma, various allergic reactions or if you are going to undergo a surgical intervention or if you are simultaneously undergoing treatment with other medicines. It is not recommended to use acetylsalicylic acid in children.

Do not take this medicine in the last trimester of pregnancy (after the 24th week of pregnancy). In the first and second trimester of pregnancy (during the first 24 weeks), you must ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine. Small amounts of acetylsalicylic acid and its metabolites pass into breast milk, in general it is not necessary to stop breastfeeding in the case of short-term use of the medicine, at the doses recommended for pain or fever. However, if long-term and/or high-dose use (more than 8 effervescent tablets per day) has been prescribed, the patient must stop breastfeeding.

Large doses of Alka-Seltzer should not be used for long periods of time without a doctor's recommendation. Alka-Seltzer contains 477 mg of sodium for one effervescent tablet, a fact that must be taken into account by patients on a salt-free diet. This is a medicine that is released without a medical prescription.
