Acetylsalicylic acid, 500 mg, 20 tablets, Zentiva

Indications:
As an analgesic and antipyretic:

- combating pain of weak or moderate intensity, in headache, myalgia, rheumatic articular and periarticular pain, neuralgia, dental pain, dysmenorrhea;
- fighting fever.

As an anti-inflammatory:

- combating inflammatory phenomena in acute polyarticular rheumatism;

- alleviation of joint inflammation in rheumatoid arthritis;
- protection in case of exposure to sunlight.

Composition :
One tablet contains acetylsalicylic acid 500 mg in the form of acetylsalicylic acid DC-90 555 mg and excipients: microcrystalline cellulose PH 102, talc, anhydrous colloidal silicon dioxide.

Administration method:
The tablets are administered with a sufficient amount of water, preferably after meals.

Grown ups:

• For the analgesic and antipyretic effect, one tablet (500 mg acetylsalicylic acid) is administered, repeating as needed at 4-hour intervals.
• For the anti-inflammatory effect, 3 - 4 g of acetylsalicylic acid (6 - 8 tablets) are administered per day, in fractional administration, at 6-hour intervals.

Children under 12 years:

• The administration for the analgesic and antipyretic effects of viral conditions is done at the doctor's indication and under his strict supervision.

Children over 12 years:

• For the analgesic and antipyretic effect, 250 mg (1/2 tablet) is administered, repeating as needed at intervals of 4-8 hours.
• For the anti-inflammatory effect in acute polyarticular rheumatism, 85 – 100 mg/kg and day (without exceeding 3 g per day), divided, at intervals of 4 – 6 hours, for 20 – 30 days are administered; then 2/3 of the attack dose is administered for 10 – 20 days, then 1/2 - 1/3 for another 30 – 40 days.

Contraindications:
Do not take Acetylsalicylic Acid Zentiva:

- if you are allergic to acetylsalicylic acid, other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or to any of the other components of this medicine;
- if you have or have had active gastric and duodenal ulcers
- if you have noticed blood in the stool or black stool (signs of bleeding or gastrointestinal perforation)
- if you have or have had hemorrhagic diathesis (the tendency of the body to bleed repeatedly)
- if you have or have had in the past bronchial asthma induced by the administration of salicylates or substances with a similar action, especially non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs
- if you suffer from mast cell disorders, because acetylsalicylic acid can induce allergic reactions (circulatory shock with flushing, low blood pressure, rapid heartbeat, vomiting)
- if you are in the last trimester of pregnancy
- if you have severe liver failure
- if you have severe heart failure (low pumping capacity of the heart)
- if you have severe kidney failure
- if you are taking methotrexate in a dose higher than 15 mg per week
- in children and adolescents under the age of 16.

Precautions:
Before using Acetylsalicylic Acid Zentiva, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

Pregnancy, breast-feeding and fertility:

• If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
• Acetylsalicylic acid Zentiva should not be administered during the first and second trimesters of pregnancy, unless absolutely necessary and only on the recommendation of the doctor.
• It is especially important not to use Acetylsalicylic Acid Zentiva in the last 3 months of pregnancy, as it may harm the fetus or cause problems at birth.
• Use in the last trimester of pregnancy has been associated with fetal lung, heart and kidney toxicity, premature closure of the ductus arteriosus, delayed and prolonged labor, and increased bleeding frequency (including for low doses).
• Since acetylsalicylic acid passes into milk, use during breastfeeding should be avoided or breastfeeding should be discontinued, depending on the ratio between the potential risk to the infant and the therapeutic benefit to the mother.

Driving vehicles and using machines:
Acetylsalicylic acid Zentiva does not influence the ability to drive vehicles and use machines.
