Administration:
Adults: 1 capsule per day with an adequate amount of water.
Precautions:
Vitamin D can interact with a number of medications. Here are some examples:
Orlistat (Xenical and Alli) a slimming (weight loss) medicine. This medicine can reduce the amount of vitamin D your body absorbs from food and supplements
Cholesterol-lowering statins may not work as well if high doses of vitamin D from supplements are used. These include: atorvastatin (Lipitor®), lovastatin (Altoprev® and Mevacor®), and simvastatin (FloLipid™ and Zocor®)
Steroids such as prednisone can cause vitamin D levels in the blood to drop.
Diuretics (Hygroton®, Lozol®, and Microzide®) can raise blood calcium levels too much if vitamin D supplements are used.
Very high levels of vitamin D in the blood can cause nausea, vomiting, muscle weakness, confusion, pain, loss of appetite, dehydration, excessive urination and thirst.
